What is delaying Chelsea's appointment of Sarri as their new manager?

Every Chelsea fan has been anxiously waiting for the obvious and inevitable news that Maurizio Sarri as been appointed as the new Chelsea manager and Antonio Conte is no more in charge at Stamford bridge.

So what the hell is going on behind the scenes? Why is it taking too long for Chelsea to sack their manager and appoint a new one? What are the complications behind this deal? Those are the questions unanimous with Chelsea fans right now.

It was revealed by Goal yesterday that Chelsea have held positive talks with Maurizio Sarri in Milan - even though this isn't the first we'll be hearing this - and that Chelsea are edging ever closer to appointing him.

This is the same story that has been circulating in the media for the past couple of weeks and yet nothing has changed, Conte's still Chelsea boss and Sarri is still under contract with Napoli.

It is believed that though it has been very slow but Chelsea are making good progress in their negotiation to appoint Sarri as their new manager.

The main stumbling block as we all know is his €8million release clause which Chelsea are reluctant to pay in full especially now that Sarri is no more the Napoli coach. Chelsea are also aware that they will need to pay Conte £9million because He still has a year left on his contract.

These have complicated talks between Chelsea and Napoli but lawyers on all three sides have  been working on the cost, with Chelsea hoping it can be reduced.

Today, 31st of May, is believed to be the day Sarri's release clause expires which means He can freely resign and Chelsea may have to pay just a little money as compensation for Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Chelsea are expected to offer a two-year deal to Sarri -which would see the former Empoli coach earn around £5 million-per-year -  with the option of an extra campaign still being negotiated as reported by Goal.

The breakdown in negotiation have also allowed Man City to steal a march on Chelsea by closing in on Napoli midfielder Jorginho with his agent confirming yesterday that an offer from Man City is already on the table and He doesn't believe neither He nor Napoli would turn it down.

"I know an offer to Napoli has arrived from Manchester City," he told Tuttomercatoweb, We're waiting for their response. I don't think they have rejected offers.

"If Napoli find an agreement with City, we will assess everything. Obviously, Manchester City would be very welcome, an opportunity not to be turned down. The coach is one of the best in Europe."

There was no competition for his signature from Chelsea because they haven't sorted out their managerial appointment yet.

Meanwhile there have been speculations that Chelsea are eyeing Inter's Maurio Icardi to replace outgoing Alvaro Morata. It is also believed Chelsea holds serious interest in Bayern's Robert Lewandowski and are keeping an eye on Higuian's situation at Juventus.
