Sarri edges ever closer to Chelsea job after Napoli chief confirms exit
Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has wished the Italian well in his future endeavours, with Chelsea his possible destination.
Maurizio Sarri has taken a step towards being appointed as Chelsea manager, with Napoli's president confirming his departure from the club by issuing a farewell message.
Aurelio De Laurentiis was frustrated with his coach's refusal to sign a new deal with the club this summer amid speculation he might leave for England and has now confirmed Sarri is set to depart with fellow Italian Carlo Ancelotti lined up as replacement.
He tweeted : "I'd like to thank Maurizio Sarri for his valuable contribution to the Napoli cause.
"He brought joy and prestige to Naples and Napoli fans all over the world with an entertaining brand of football that drew praise from all quarters. Well done, Maurizio. Aurelio De Laurentiis."
Meanwhile if He is still not officially sacked Chelsea may still have to pay his full €8million release clause. There are also reports that Aurelio De Laurentiis has offered Chelsea a deal to get him for free but if Chelsea are also ready to part with some of their players. The likes of David Luiz has been pointed out.
There are doubts over the future of Napoli stars such as Faouzi Ghoulam, Jorginho, Elseid Hysaj and Kalidou Koulibaly and have all been linked with summer moves to the Premier League.
