Maurizio Sarri has been dominating the headlines these past few weeks and leave many asking questions as regards his future. He's no more the Napoli coach but He is still under contract and with a release clause of about €8million.
He is wanted by many top clubs around Europe with Chelsea top of that particular list, but there are some major twists in it for his suitors.
It is claimed by many that Chelsea have opted for other targets including Laurent Blanc, Luiz Enrique and Slavisa Jokanovic but they are all just "Plan B" in case Chelsea are unable to pull off this deal eventually.
Sarri still remains the number target for Chelsea to replace Antonio Conte, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is believed to be a big admirer of the 59-year-old Italian and his style of football which has earned a lot of praise from people.
Mattia Grassani, a Napoli Calcio lawyer, was speaking yesterday at Radio Goal on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, He explained in details all what we need to know in Sarri contract.
He said " The Sarri clause has expired, so the technician still has a contract with Napoli, unless there is a new negotiation.
" Wanting a new club to hire him right away, it takes a new contract and the 8million are no longer a preference.
" Because the membership expires definitely it will be nnecessary to wait till the June 30th, after which July 1st will be officially exonerated. To be able to release therefore He needs the club's placet.
" In other words, If a company wishes to engage Sarri, no longer worth the termination clause, It is obliged to speak with Aurelio De Laurenttis."
It remains to be seen if Chelsea are ready to have the patience and follow the right steps in their efforts to appoint him as their new manager.
