Chelsea have reportedly struck a £5m "Gentleman agreement" with Napoli to release Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea seems to have strike a £5m 'gentleman's agreement' with Napoli for Maurizio Sarri to become thier new boss after talks in London proved positive and both parties seems to have come to an agreement for the deal to go through.

According to Corriere dello Sport , the Italian held talks with officials from both Chelsea and former club Napoli in London on Friday, where an agreement was reached for the Premier League side to relieve him of his current deal in Italy.

The Italian newspaper claim Sarri will be handed a three-year contract that will see him earn €6m (£5.3m) a season in England.

With all the agreements in place, it is still surprising that there is no confirmation from either side yet, despite that Chelsea will start their Pre-Season training on July 2nd and the need for the new coach to start preparations for the new season and investments made to the team.

According to the Mirror, The appointment is delayed because Chelsea are haggling to get a discount on Antonio Conte’s pay-off because they feel the Italian cost the club millions of pounds with his treatment of Diego Costa.

Diego Costa was sold by Chelsea to Atletico Madrid last summer for £58m, and it is believed within the club that He was sold for far less than his worth especially now after having scored 3 goals in the opening 2 games of the 2018 FIFA World cup.

All the faults has been laid on Conte's head after playing a critical role in selling Costa by infamously texting him that He is no longer wanted in his team. But it remains to be seen if there will ever be an agreement between the club and Conte to part for less than his annual salary.
