Zola's move to Chelsea is imminent but it may not be tied with Sarri appointment

Gianfranco Zola's move to Chelsea  is getting ever closer after confirming that He is ending his stay in South Africa as a world cup pundit for Supersport.

The blues legend is definitely heading back to Stamford bridge but decisions has not yet been made as regards his role at the club. Chelsea are still without a technical director and Maurizio Sarri could also want him as an assistant to make his transition from Serie A football to the English Premier league easier.

When asked by Supersport pundit Robert Marawa what his next step could be, He responded that;

"I don't know. I was afraid you're going to ask me this, but I don't know. There's a lot of rumours about me recently and nothing has happened. We'll see what happens in the future...at the moment it's only talking, nothing has been decided."

Zola's agent Fulvio Marrucco yesterday to Radio Kiss Kiss that His client's move to Chelsea is not directly affiliated with the reported appointment of former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.

“Sarri to Chelsea? I can only answer for Zola: I don’t know if Sarri will be the new Blues coach.

“The first step is the possible sacking of Conte. After that, Chelsea will have to reach an agreement with Napoli and then Sarri.

“I’ve never met the Blues, but the idea of Zola going there doesn’t run parallel to Sarri’s arrival in London.

“Zola’s a legend there. We must clarify what the role of my client will be.”

Zola played for Chelsea between 1996 and 2003 with 311 appearances and 80 goals during a distinguished career at Stamford bridge which saw him voted as the league's best ever foreign player.

He tasted two FA Cup wins, a Cup Winners’ Cup triumph and a UEFA Super Cup success. His iconic no 25 shirt was even retired at Chelsea after He left the club.

He boasts Premier league managerial experience having managed Premier league teams like West ham united, Watford and Birmingham city.
